7 Weeks Old
Jazzy turned 7 weeks old yesterday. We've had her one week, and I can already see so much growth. She is such a contented puppy. Very energetic, with bursts of crazy silliness, but also sleeps well, and is not a pest.
Jazzy has learned to love her kennel, and we don't even have to keep the kennel door shut to keep her contained. She does come out to get us when she needs to use the potty-but we are GLAD for that! Then, she is ready to go back to sleep for a while (if it is nighttime).
During the daytime, Jazzy is staying up longer now. Her first day, she was only awake about 20 minutes every hour. Now she stays up for about 2-3 hours at a time, and then naps for 60-90 minutes in the daytime. At night, she is resting for about 3 hours between potty breaks. Not bad.
We have not heard her bark yet! She does make a funny whiney scream when she is yawning. It is cute. She used to whimper when she looked for us after waking up, but now she does not panic so much. She just walks around until she is more alert, and then plays.
When music is playing, Jazzy stops whatever she is doing to listen. She turns her head back and forth as she focuses her ears in the direction of the sound. So cute. Makes her name appropriate!
Yesterday, we left her for 4 hours in the morning to go to church (we work there, so we are there longer than the average Joe), and again last night we were gone 3.5 hours. We put Jazzy in our bedroom/bathroom area (hard surfaced floors), and she was content while we were gone. No barking, no crying, no destruction of property! LOL!
Today we went out at lunchtime to play with Jazzy in our backyard. She loved having us both out there (normally just one of us takes her out to "do her business"). She ran like a speed demon, from one fence to another. She jumped up and over various hurdles/obstacles. I'm thinking it would be fun to set up a doggy agility course. Our cat, Libby, watched from the window. So, the whole family got in on the fun!
