More Firsts and Funnies
Yesterday was Russ's day off, so we both had plenty of time to work with Jazzy. We purchased a doggie bed for her. It is oval shaped with a center section and then a ring around that. Overstuffed, and covered with a fuzzy type top and a suede type bottom (all polyester washable). Jazzy LOVES it! We put it in the living room while we were there, and she learned some neat stunts. We would put her on the ottoman, and she would jump to her bed. We placed the bed further and further away from the ottoman, and she made the dive every time but one. It was so fun to watch her stunts! We put the bed by the side of our bed, and Jazzy slept there all night, getting up just a couple of times to do her business. Not bad for an 8 week old. We slept well!
Jazzy also learned how to climb up a little step stool (one step) to then climb up onto the couch or the ottoman. We are working with her to learn stairs so that when we add a door downstairs to the back yard and her eventual dog run, she will be able to go down the stairs and out the doggie door when nature calls. For now, she will climb stairs, but she is too scared to go down them.
Jazzy had her second bath last night. She whimpers a little while she is standing in the water, and we have her lifted up on just two paws so we can massage the special shampoo into her dry skin/hair. We are supposed to work the product in for 15 minutes, but she cries so much we only make it for about 8 minutes. Then, I used my sprayer from the sink to rinse her off. She LIKED that part of it! I think she will get used to baths soon, and will like them. Next time, I'm going to NOT put water in the sink, and see if just soaking her down with the sprayer and massaging the shampoo in that way will be better than her standing in water. Whatever works!
We got snow overnight, and Jazzy likes it! But she doesn't like getting cold, and starts to shiver quickly. Even though it was snowing, and the ground was covered in snow, she had to run away from us to a private spot to do #2. For some reason, she likes her privacy with that one (or should I say two?). Crazy girl!
Now, I can take her little bed into whatever room I'm in, and put her toys in the groove between the oval section of the bed and the ring section, and she is set for entertainment. This will work well in my office so I can get some writing and correspondence done. She's pretty good about entertaining herself.
We left early this morning to be with a friend waiting to go back to surgery. We left before 7 a.m., and returned at 8 a.m. Jazzy had placed herself back in her kennel, and even shut the door closed, while we were gone. That was so cute! She loves her nappies!
